Healthy You Week One

Before we look forward, it can be immensely helpful to reflect on what’s behind us. There are good reasons for why we’ve reached our present level of health, and if we want to change the current status quo, we need to understand what’s been holding us back. We should seek to be continuously growing and nurturing our mind, body and soul. You’ve been drawn to this transformation process for a reason. Perhaps you are seeking better health or deeper healing: physically, spiritually, or both. Whatever your reasons are. We can safely assume that there is some form of disconnect between your current health right now and what you’d like it to be. This week your task will be to identify your primary physical and spiritual goal and begin to prepare your mind and body for the upcoming transformation!!

Step one: As openly and honestly as you can, take a few moments now to write down what you’d like to transform about your health and spiritual life. Be as specific as you can! Try not to judge or blame your current situation negatively. Rather, investigate these areas of improvement with self-kindness and curiosity.

Step two: Now spend a few moments and consider why these issues are occurring in your life. There are usually very real and understandable issues that underlie health behaviors (i.e. stress, lack of time, work/life balance, inadequate cooking skills, financial issues, food addiction, etc.). If we look closely, we are likely to find a lack of true surrender to God driving spiritual complacency or stagnancy. Write down the first few reasons that come to mind about what’s holding you back. In what areas of your life do you need to surrender?

Step three: Now it’s time to shed some light on these issues! Take a few minutes to rephrase your barriers into goals. Choose your primary spiritual and physical goals as the two will focus on during this challenge. It can be helpful to choose a scripture to help provide you with added motivation and encouragement as you go along. Begin to saturate your life with this scripture. Simultaneously, begin to drink at least 2 more bottles of water daily than you did before. This will help to flush out the physical toxins and hydrate your cells so that you are better able to conquer the challenges to come.

Brothers and sister, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 3:13-14
